Canadian Firearms Safety Courses

Firearms possession and acquisition in Canada requires a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL). Ontarians applying for a PAL for the first time must complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) for sporting rifles and shotguns.

If you are interested in acquiring a restricted firearm, typically a handgun, one must also complete the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC). The training provided in these courses prepares the student with beginner-level knowledge of the responsibilities of possessing and operating firearms, loading and unloading, their safe use and handling, as well as the legal requirements for the storage of firearms and ammunition.

Hunter Education:
In a classroom setting, Regan and Mark enjoy sharing hunting stories and tips which makes course content more engaging. This assists the student in understanding the natural world and becoming a knowledgeable, responsible and safe hunter. This course is often combined with the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and is referred to as a  “One-stop Course.”

New hunters, from the age of 12 or older, must take both the CFSC and Hunter Education course and pass both exams if they wish to hunt with a firearm in Ontario. To register for a course, simply click on the course you wish to take and follow the instructions.

All fees include HST, the exams and a manual for the Hunter Education course.

We hope to see you soon. Mark and Regan
